Before I – finally – kick-start the promo for my new album, entitled Rerum Novarum (of new things), a few words.
Originally, I just wanted to release a compilation of my newest tunes – you know, the Future Garage stuff. I just wanted to release a little something for all the people who have been following me over the years, something that would let them know where I was at musically.
But then I changed my mind – I told myself, hey, why not make an album, a full-lenght album, with a solid concept, not just a collection of tunes…
So here it is… one year later… Rerum Novarum is ready to be released.
All these months, while I was pulling all-nighters on a regular, drinking too much coffee and not getting anything else done because I was working on that album, I was thinking – I want this album to be “it”. I want to make a full-lenght album that will make people believe in Future Garage. Because that’s what it’s all about… A lot of people have heard about Future Garage and these people probably think they know what it is, that they know all there is to know about it… well, I want to prove them wrong… I want to blow their mind! I think that right here and now there is a need for a convincing Future Garage album, for an album that will make people go: what the hell is this stuff!!! This is amazing! So this is “Future Garage”?
And I sure hope this album is “it”.
After a full year of working 30-40 hours a week on this album, I must say I’m excited to share this with you all… yeah, it’s time.
I think this album comes at the perfect time… Future Garage is strong… you can feel the excitement in the air right now for this sound since Kode 9 announced he would reveal Burial’s newest material… many excellent producers are releasing music (but there’s still not enough Future Garage out there), publishers are curious, in an exploratory phase, magazines are writing about it (see the DJ MAG scans below)…
